Community Relief Fund Challenge
United Way of Lapeer County announces the formation of the Community Relief Fund. This appeal for emergency funds will help support families who have been hardest hit in the economic crisis with basic needs like food, rent, utilities and healthcare.
Unemployment, evictions, and rising costs for basic needs mean that more of our neighbors, coworkers, and friends are living on the edge – some for the first time in their lives. The needs are real, urgent, and require immediate action.
The Community Relief Fund is distinct and separate from the annual workplace campaign that raises dollars to primarily fund programs directed at long-term changes. This is really a "disaster-relief" effort providing short-term emergency relief for families and individuals.

IMAGINATION LIBRARY IS HERE!
|
|
United Way of Lapeer County, in partnership with the Dollywood Foundation have brought Dolly Parton's Imagination Library to Lapeer County. This program provides age-appropriate reading books to children between 0 and five years of age. Children will receive one book each month, delivered to their homes for free. The program is proven to improve early literacy skills, and increase school readiness in young children.
Parents can enroll their child by picking up a registration form at any local library, the United Way office, or by visiting www.imaginationlibrary.org. Space is limited so children will be enrolled on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are interested in sponsoring a child, call United Way at (810) 667-2912 or visiting the website at www.imaginationlibrary.org.
