As the founder and visionary for Owen Tree Service, Randy Owen has worked
diligently to position this growing tree, lawn, and landscape company as a cutting-edge
leader in Michigan’s green industry. Starting his career as a Utility Arborist trainee in
1974, and now with over 50 years of experience as a tree care professional, Randy has
been dedicated to continually refining and improving both his industry and business
skills. Randy is well known and highly regarded by several green industry associations
at both the state and national levels. He is the past president of the Michigan Forestry
and Parks Association (MFPA), the past certification liaison (from its inception) for the
International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborist testing program, Past
Chairman for the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA) and a committee member for
various activities at the TCIA and ISA. Randy is also an ISA Certified Arborist (MI-
0006A).
Randy has played an important role in developing many of the standards professional
tree care companies use today. He has also proved to be a valued resource for many of
the tree care industry equipment manufacturers by providing valuable input regarding
the development of the equipment currently available. Randy is backed up and
supported by a group of managers with diverse educational and business experience,
with several having worked in various positions for numerous years in the tree care
industry. Using a team approach enables Owen Tree Service to make important
decisions by using group dynamics, as opposed to relying on a single decision-maker.
In addition to participating in tree care-related associations, Randy and his wife Brenda
participate in several local fundraiser events and believe in giving back to the Lapeer
County community, which has given so much to him and his family. Randy thinks Lapeer
County is not just a great place to live and work, but it is also a wonderful area to plant
roots and raise a family. Randy has been a volunteer, and board member of the United
